AM sorgt an seinem 90. Geburtstag für Nachwuchs
und schenkt uns ein neues Moulton Modell:

M DEV

Bereits seit 2 Jahren deuteten Gerüchte auf
die Entwicklung einer neuen Generation des
Moulton Rades hin:
Alex selbst gab einige wenige Infos in Interviews z.B.mit der Automotive Fachpresse preis:

Sein Konstrukteurs Team hat es demnach geschaft,
einen würdigen und extrem aufwendig verfeinerten
NS -Spaceframe "Überflieger" zu entwickeln.

Bleibt zu hoffen, das hierbei die Kosten Nebensache bleiben,
und Spezialitäten wie Moulton´s eigene Schaltungen oder
aber seine legendäre Reynolds Kurbel daran Platz finden.

Sehen wir also voller Spannung im April nach Wiltshire, denn mit
Sicherheit wird auch diese neue Maschine einen technologischen
Meilenstein darstellen.

dieses Jahr wird hart, bei 2 begehrenswerten Moultons fällt die Entscheidung schwer, auf welches man sparen soll.

es gibt bis jetzt nur ein sehr skuriles Bild in den britischen Medien, die ein Fahrrad-Avatar-mini-bild als Fotomontage über dem Eingang von "the Hall" (A. Moultons Haus aus dem 17. Jhd.)

Da werden wir leider noch etwas warten müssen.

Statement from Dr Alex Moulton 10th April 2010

Dr Alex Moulton the owner and founder of Moulton Developments states that his new concept bicycle, codenamed Mdev 90 which he revealed on April 9th, will be on show at the West Barn, Bradford on Avon on April 25th.

The essential features of the Mdev 90 are:

1.Frame of carbon rods clamped to head and seat tubes made from anodized aluminum coloured to the choice of the customer.
2.The frame can be readily assembled by selected dealers in the presence of the customer.
3.The appearance of the Mdev 90 is slim-line.

Dr Moulton is happy with the Mdev 90 representing his ultimate endeavor of 50 years aspiration to make riding more pleasing than on the classic big wheeled bicycle.

Dr Moulton is in the process of negotiations for the licensing of the Mdev 90.

Dabei scheint das Grundprinzip aber erhalten zu bleiben. Also nicht unbedingt bahnbrechend, oder?
Carbon und Alu statt Stahl - ich bin verwundert. Teilweise geht der Trend ja andersherum.

Und bei der Federung sind ja nach wie vor die Probleme:
a) Hinterschwingendrehpunkt nicht auf Kettenblatthöhe. Das müsste also Aufschaukeln
b) Frontfederung ist "geschoben". Neue Technik ist andersrum ("gezogen"), siehe z.B. German-A. Das ergibt eine günstigere Raderhebungkurve.

Sorry an die Moultonisten hier für meine Skepsis. Obiges ist nur prinzipielle Überlegung, keine eigene Erfahrung (die würde mich interessieren). Bin selbst nur ganz kurz mal ein Moulton porbegefahren (weiß das Modell nicht mehr). Den Spaceframe finde ich ja prima. Sehr stabil. Aber das konkrete Modell war leider viel zu schwer. Diesbezüglich könnte die neue Konstruktion also was bringen.

Das neue Tyrell Faltrad hat übrigens ähnliche Rahmenkonstruktion wie das Moulton (gekreuzte Oberrohre). Faltet aber recht innovativ:
